**MC78M00/MC78M00A Linear voltage regulator, ON Semiconductor** The ON Semiconductor MC78M00/MC78M00A linear voltage regulator is a robust device that combines Internal current limiting, thermal shutdown and output transistor safe operating area protection. It can be used in many applications including local, on-card voltage regulation. Available in 5 V, 8 V, 12 V, 15 V, 18 V, 20 V and 24 V with an output current of up to 500 mA with used with a suitable heat sink.
The MC78M09BDTG is a Positive Voltage Regulator with 9V output voltage. It is identical to the popular device, except that it is specified for only half the output current. Like the device 3-terminal regulator is intended for local, on-card voltage regulation. It features internal current limiting and thermal shutdown circuitry and safe-area compensation for the internal pass transistor combine to makes this device remarkably rugged under most operating conditions. Maximum output current with adequate heat-sinking is 500mA.
Description The L78xx series of three-terminal positive regulators is available in TO-220, TO-220FP, TO-3 and D2PAK packages and several fixed output voltages, making it useful in a wide range of applications. These regulators can provide local on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single point regulation. Each type employs internal current limiting, thermal shut-down and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible. If adequate heat sinking is provided, they can deliver over 1 A output current. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltage and currents. Features ■ Output current to 1.5 A ■ Output voltages of 5; 5.2; 6; 8; 8.5; 9; 10; 12; 15; 18; 20; 24 V ■ Thermal overload protection ■ Short circuit protection ■ Output transition SOA protection
