The 74HC4053D is a triple single-pole double-throw (3x SPDT) Analog Switch suitable for use in analog or digital 2:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer applications. Each switch features a digital select input (Sn), two independent inputs/outputs (nY0 and nY1) and a common input/output (nZ). A digital enable input (E) is common to all switches. When E is high, the switches are turned off. Inputs include clamp diodes. This enables the use of current limiting resistors to interface inputs to voltages in excess of VCC.

The CD74HC4053E is a Digitally Controlled Analog Switch that use silicon gate CMOS technology to achieve operating speeds similar to LSTTL with the low-power consumption of standard CMOS integrated circuits. These analog multiplexers and demultiplexers control analog voltages that may vary across the voltage supply range (for example, VCC to VEE). They are bidirectional switches that allow any analog input to be used as an output and vice versa. The switches have low ON resistance and low OFF leakages. In addition, all these devices have an enable control that, when high, disables all switches to their OFF state.
