SG3525AN Description

The SG3525AN pulse width modulator control circuit offers improved performance and lower external parts count when implemented for controlling all types of switching power supplies. The on-chip +5.1 V reference is trimmed to ±1% and the error amplifier has an input common- -mode voltage range that includes the reference voltage, thus eliminating the need for external divider resistors. A sync input to the oscillator enables multiple units to be slaved or a single unit to be synchronized to an external system clock. A wide range of deadtime can be programmed by a single resistor connected between the CT and Discharge pins. This device also features built- in soft- start circuitry, requiring only an external timing capacitor. A shutdown pin controls both the soft- -start circuitry and the output stages, providing instantaneous turm off through the PWM latch with pulsed shutdown, as well as soft- -start recycle with longer shutdown commands. The under voltage lockout inhibits the outputs and the changing of the soft- -start capacitor when Vcc is below nominal. The output stages are totem- pole design capable of sinking and sourcing in excess of 200 mA. The output stage of the SG3525AN features NOR logic resulting in a low output for an off- state.

Where to use SG3525AN 

The SG3525A series switching controller has played an important role in supporting high-efficiency switching power supply applications, especially in high current power devices. Typical applications include ultrasonic cleaning machines, LED lights control, electric motors, etc.

 

How to use SG3525AN 

The circuit uses SG3525 as the control chip, and the peripheral circuit is simple. The sawtooth generation circuit in the circuit consists of RT, CT and internal circuits with Cr = 2.2 nF, Rr = 11 kn, RD = 220 Q. According = 1 / [C (0.7R < 3R). )] it is calculated that the output frequency of the oscillator is about 54kHz and the PWM output frequency is about 27kHz. The soft start capacitor is connected to a 4.7uF soft start capacitor. The SG3525 only starts to operate when the voltage charged to it by the soft-start capacitor keeps pin 8 high. The fixed voltage of 2-pin is 5.1V. The PI regulator consists of SG3525s 1BI 2Q 9 pins and its peripheral circuits. Its output, along with a 5-pin sawtooth wave and a soft-start capacitor, can drive the PWM controller to generate square waves. Its output stage 11, 14 pins output two complementary PWM waves, using the totem column structure, the maximum fill current and draw current can reach 400mA.
