In total, 1N4002 rectifier diode has 2 pins. However, you need to know the functions of each pin before it can work better for you.

1N4002 is the owner of a cathode (-) and an anode (+). In the schematic symbol, the tip of the triangle with the line at the top of the triangle is the cathode. The cathode is marked by a band on the body of a diode. It allows the current to flow through only one direction, which means that the current can flow from the anode to the cathode only, and never from the cathode to the anode – it likes a one-way valve.
